The TTL version of the P-Series Insert Reader provides data and strobe signals for each track. These two signals can be routed to a microcontroller which will extract the zeros and ones from track 1 and track 2 to form the 5-bit and 7-bit characters as required. The rear sensor signal indicates when a card has been inserted all the way (one model presents an active high signal, the other an active low signal).
