The TTL Half Card Insert Reader models are suitable for battery applications through the use of an integrated “card inserted” switch. These single-track models will read cards encoded according to ISO specifications as long as there are no more than 34 characters on Track 1 or no more than 16 characters on Track 2 (or up to 27 characters when encoded at 128 bpi). These compact units do not include a bezel so they can be mounted in a very small space. In addition to the front switch, both a card present signal from the magnetic circuits and a rear switch are available to indicate the presence of a card in the slot. Strobe and data signals from the read circuits are used to acquire the data from each track.
