MCAPS 3000 provides a network-based, terminal management system, that can centrally monitor, control, and audit the card-activation and PIN selection activities of all card issuing stations and operators throughout a financial institution’s entire enterprise of branch operations. MagTek’s MCAPS 3000 system combines the power, security, and reliability of MagTek’s previous generation CAPS 2000 suite with the administration ease that a Microsoft Windows-based networked application can provide. MCAPS 3000 utilizes a multi-thread/multi-process architecture that allows it to optimize throughput performance based on server availability and processing speed. This architecture also ensures that in the case of server cluster failure, the system will adapt to optimized performance with remaining resources, and do so without disruption to services of the overall system.
MCAPS 3000 is an integrated Microsoft Windows-based approach to secure consumer PIN selection and card issuance, as well as terminal and key management. It comprises a set of compatible applications for secure in-branch consumer PIN selection and management, along with optional terminal management and paper-PIN encryption capability to enable secure PIN selection by mail. MCAPS 3000 supports Triple DEA, single DES and IdentiKey encryption, making it easy to comply with the latest security mandates. The remote key loading capability makes it easy to implement a UKPD (Unique Key Per Device) policy across your network.
MagTek’s new AdminSafe technology uses the APTM (Advanced Personal Transaction Machine) secure PINpad at the administrator station to provide an extra security layer. Additionally, MagTek has enhanced the master administrator’s control of access by enabling selective disabling of functions as an added protection. For reliability, MCAPS 3000 clusters utilize an “active-active” configuration (not “hot backup”), ensuring instant access to the server even as your network grows. The TCP/IP-based MCAPS 3000 network can cut your issuing time significantly, completing PIN transactions in less than half the time of a dialup-dependent CAPS 2000 system.
The MCAPS 3000 installation can easily scale from a single server to a large cluster as your institution’s needs and issuing volume grow. It requires no special hardware or operating system; MCAPS 3000 runs under Microsoft Windows™ 2000 Advanced Server, on a standard, widely available Windows hardware configuration. It incorporates industry-standard SQL database architecture, making a range of third-party utilities available. MCAPS 3000 supports TCP/IP networking of your server and card issuing stations, which enables you to take advantage of MagTek’s network-based terminal firmware update, as well as optional remote key loading and online diagnostics. The value of these features to your enterprise grows rapidly as you scale your MCAPS 3000 network. Legacy dial-up networks are also optionally supported. MCAPS 3000 is more easily customized than ever before, via modular enhancements to enable support for smart cards or other institutional requirements.
